Discover Hydra

The island’s image is still very traditional, with whitewashed houses, narrow winding stone paths, and old monasteries and churches nestled in the hills. Hydra is a car-free island, where transport is carried out by donkey, on foot, or by boat.

The island has a rich and eventful history, and its aristocratic heritage is still clearly visible today. Its inhabitants were master sailors, seafarers, successful merchants, and experienced blockade runners during the Napoleonic Wars, who amassed great wealth that was invested in the construction of elaborate ships and mansions.

Today, the island is a retreat for many painters, artists, and sailors.

At present, we do not offer accommodation on Hydra. We recommend holiday homes and apartments on the opposite mainland in the region of Argolis.
