Discover Pylos

The historic Pylos of King Nestor is believed to have been located about 10 km to the northeast. However, Navarino Bay was already inhabited in ancient times. An acropolis stood at Cape Coryphasium, where the ruins of the Venetian fortress Paleokastro can be found today.

Thanks to the offshore islands of Schiza and Sapientza, the sheltered natural harbor of Pylos was formed. The modern town of Pylos is a small fishing village in the southwest of the region, where tourism has long since arrived.

The picturesque town clings to a hillside and offers beautiful views over the historically significant bay from many points. The recently developed marina, with its yacht harbor and pedestrian zone, gives the town a well-kept Mediterranean atmosphere.

At present, we do not offer holiday homes in Pylos. We recommend holiday houses and apartments in other locations in Messenia.
