Greece’s first king, Prince Otto of Bavaria, also initially ruled from here before the capital was moved to Athens in 1834.
Today, Nafplio is the capital of the Argolis region and has around 16,000 inhabitants. The town delights visitors with its exceptionally well-preserved historic center.
