Diakopto coastline and landscape

Diakopto is a small seaside village on the northern coast of the Peloponnese, located about 60 km west of Patras. A small harbour pier, tavernas, cafés, and long sandy beaches create the coastal scenery of the settlement.

The narrow, fertile valley between the steep mountain slopes and the coast is covered with dense olive groves, orange plantations, and gardens.

The small railway station of Diakopto is a major attraction for visitors. A rack railway runs 23 km through the spectacular Vouraikos Gorge up to Kalavryta, 700 m above sea level. Alongside the railway tracks runs a 12 km hiking route, also known as the European long-distance trail E4.
