The Ionian Islands, also called “Eptanissa”, meaning the “Seven Islands”, include the larger islands: Corfu, Paxi, Lefkada, Kefalonia, Ithaki, Zakynthos, and Kythira, as well as many smaller inhabited and uninhabited islands. The Ionian Islands are located in the Ionian Sea, west of mainland Greece and the Peloponnese peninsula.
