Lesbos
Lesbos liegt an der nordöstlichen Seite der Ägäis, vor der Küste Kleinasiens und gehört zu der nordostägäischen Inselgruppe. Mit ihren ca. 100.000 Einwohnern ist sie nach Kreta und Euböa die drittgrößte Insel Griechenlands, mit ganz eigenem Charakter, einer ganz besonderen Hausarchitektur, die eher untypisch für eine Insel ist, fruchtbaren Tälern, ausgedehnten Olivenhainen, uralten Pinien und schönen Stränden. Lieblich, grün und fruchtbar an der östlichen Seite, karg, gebirgig, schroff und weniger zugänglich im Westen. Wanderer und Individualisten finden hier hervorragende Urlaubsbedingungen. Zwei windgeschützte Buchten im Süden der Insel bilden den Golf von Kalloni und Gera.
