The Ionian Islands are also called "Eptanissa", translated the "Seven Islands". They include: Korfu, Paxi, Lefkas, Kefalonia, Ithaki, Zakynthos and Kythira. The island group is located in the Ionian Sea west of the Greek mainland and the Peloponnese. Corfu is the northernmost and second largest of the Ionian Islands and is rightly called "the green island" called. Corfu’s landscape is characterized by densely-covered mountains, ancient olive groves, cypress forests and several sandy coves. The name was given by two crags ("Korifes", Koryphäen) to be seen if Corfu is reached across the sea.

In the capital, Corfu, called Kerkyra by the Greeks, you can pursue the history of the island architecturally. The winding alleys and the Fortezza Vecchia remind of the Venetian domination in the 14th Century. The Esplanada Square, with its surrounding arcades is a testimony of the French domination. The big cricket ground dates from the period of British rule from 1815 to 1864. The east coast as well as the north of the island are opened touristically very well. Our vacation rentals are located away from the tourist centers in the in the south of the island near Aghios Petros, on the southwest coast around Aghios Matthaios, Paramonas, Skidi, Kanouli, Chalikounas und Prassoudi.
