The village is located on the northern coast of the Toroneos Gulf on the western side of the Sithonia peninsula, approximately 110 km southeast of Thessaloniki, and today has around 3,000 inhabitants.

Nikiti consists of two parts: the old village center, located about 2 km inland from the main road, and the newer coastal section, which stretches from the main road toward the sea along the beautiful sandy beach. In the winter/spring of 2009, the new marina and waterfront promenade were completed.

Close to the beach is the Holiday Home Miranta, which offers excellent holiday opportunities, especially for families with children.

The history of the village dates back to ancient times. The ancient settlement of Galepsos was located here, founded in the 8th century BC by settlers from Euboea. Galepsos supplied soldiers to the Persian army and took part in the Persian Wars against Athens.
