EL MAR – the sea. Matching up to the name, the property is in a particularly splendid location and the construction is well thought out. The house is in a unique location, directly above the sea with a fantastic view across the Messenian Bay, the turquoise blue water and the surrounding green landscape. The well-maintained holiday apartment EL MAR is in a slight hillside location above the Gargarou beach. The holiday apartment is on elevated ground floor (approx. 15 steps). The apartment in the basement is used by the owner family.

EL MAR is a comfortably furnished holiday apartment on a terraced property with a fantastic sea view. The holiday apartment is tastefully furnished and thoughtfully designed in all aspects and thus ideal for an unclouded holiday at the sea. Adjoining to the eat-in kitchen are two bedrooms with celeing fan and the shared bath. From the living room you have direct access to the sea-facing side of the circumferential terrace with arcade arches. Voice of a customer: “this sea view is absolutely addictive”. We can only confirm this statement. You see nothing but the blue sea and from time to time a sailboat sailing along the Messenian coast.

From a second terrace at the side of the kitchen corner, you can access the roof top terrace via an external staircase. Here you have a splendid panoramic view across the bay and the surrounding Messenian landscape. This holiday apartment is ideal for all guests seeking nothing but tranquility and the sea. Just a few steps from the terraced property and you reach the narrow, almost private beach below the house.

The beautiful fine sandy beach of Peroulia is in walking distance, approx. 500m along the narrow beach in northern direction. This beach is ideal for bathing and relaxing. 500m further down the beach there is a beach bar with sunbeds and parasols and also a tavern.

The close-by picturesque village Koroni with its port scenery, taverns and cafés make a nice change from the quiet location of Gargarou. Especially charming are also the towns of Pylos and Methoni on the western side of Messenia.

On the coastline between Koroni and Pylos you will find many further pristine sandy beaches.

Es war ein wundervoller Aufenthalt in einer toll gelegenen Unterkunft. Es ist genau der richtige Ort, wenn man Ruhe und Erholung sucht und den fantastischen Blick über das Meer genießen möchte. Ebenso schön waren Spaziergänge und Radtouren, vorzugsweise mit einem E-Bike, durch die Umgebung. Die Wohnung war gut eingerichtet, die Terrasse kaum zu überbieten. Da waren wir hoffentlich nicht zum letzten Mal.

EL MAR ist ein Traum!

Abseits des Touristenrummels verbrachten wir dort eine wunderbare Woche. Traumhafte Terrasse mit traumhaften Meerblick. Nur ein paar Meter zum Strand, der allerdings sehr schmal ist und somit nichts für Sonnenanbeter. Für uns war es optimal, da wir von Gargarou aus unsere Tagesausflüge machten und nach der Rückkehr die Abkühlung im Meer und das Abendessen auf der Terrasse genossen.

Die Mieteinheit selbst ist für zwei Leute optimal, für uns Vier war es insgesamt etwas eng. Was aber nicht wirklich stört, da man sich ja ohnehin nur im Freien aufhält.

Die Vermieter Dimitra und Georgios sind eher zurückhaltend (sie sprechen nur ein paar Wörter englisch bzw. deutsch), aber äußerst gastfreundliche und liebenswerte Menschen. Trotz der Sprachbarriere haben wir uns prächtig verstanden und am letzten Abend sind wir sogar gemeinsam Essen gegangen und hatten Riesenspaß.

Wir werden EL MAR allein schon deswegen nicht vergessen, weil wir dort ein neues Familienmitglied gefunden haben: Max, seines Zeichens ein junger, süßer Mischlingsrüde, der bei der Tochter der Vermieter in Athen nicht mehr bleiben konnte und scheinbar nur auf uns gewartet hat.

Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Kommunikation mit dem netten Vermieter-Ehepaar leider nur auf griechisch möglich.

Wer das Haus erst einmal gefunden hat, wofür man bei der Anreise etwas Extra-Zeit einplanen sollte, möchte nicht mehr fort. Alles ist sehr sorgfältig eingerichtet und ausgestattet, der Meerblick macht süchtig. Allerdings nichts für Menschen, die den ganzen Tag am Strand verbringen und Tavernen etc. um die Ecke haben möchten. Abgelegen und idyllisch, die nur griechisch sprechenden Vermieter sind sehr freundlich und zurückhaltend. Sehr kleiner Strand unterm Haus, zu Fuß gut erreichbar. Für Ruhesuchende und Meerliebhaber

Wir kennen das Haus und die Gegend seit langem, sind dort fast zu Hause, das spricht ja für sich... Allerdings sollten die Fotopoulos vielleicht mal eine Info für Müll hinlegen - es gibt nun anscheinend auch eine Mülltrennung in Messinias, der Plastikmüll wird separiert (und dann mit dem Schiff nach Italien gefahren). Ausserdem wäre es sinnvoll, den Duschkopf innen einmal zu entkalken. Es war wieder wunderbar, wir kommen gerne wieder!!

Haus El Mar kann man guten Herzens empfehlen. Es war sehr sauber und alles funktionierte einwandfrei. Die Wohnung war sehr schön und ruhig gelegen. Die Wirtsleute wohnen im gleichen Haus und waren sehr freundlich; sprechen aber nur griechisch! Der Strand ist schnell zu erreichen, aber recht steinig und optisch nicht sehr schön. Auto ist unbedingt nötig, da zu Fuß fast nichts zu erreichen ist. Hinweis für den Fahrer: Der Anreiseplan von Jassu ist irreführend, da die Infos teilweise falsch sind. Am besten bei der Tankstelle auf der Hauptstrasse informieren.

Das Haus EL MAR liegt traumhaft, direkt am türkisblauem Meer. Ich vergebe allerdings nur 4 Sterne (Bewertung gut) aufgrund des sehr schmalen Strands. Dieser ist für Kinder nur bedingt geeignet.
